DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa.– UPDATE (August 20): A Harrisburg man is facing charges after he allegedly threatened numerous bank employees and a customer during an attempted bank robbery.
Aaron Johnson, 29, is facing bank robbery and fleeing or attempting to elude police charges for his role in the incident.
On August 19 around 3:50 p.m., police responded to a reported bank robbery at the PNC Bank in the 200 block of North Enola Road in Enola.
Police immediately located the suspect vehicle on Enola Road near Summerdale Plaza.
When authorities attempted to stop the vehicle, police say it fled at a high rate of speed.
Police pursued the fleeing vehicle through Susquehanna Township and into Harrisburg city.
Finally, the suspect, later identified as Johnson, bailed out of the vehicle and was apprehended in the area of Shamokin and Susquehanna Streets.
Police say an investigation revealed that Johnson pointed his handgun at numerous bank employees and a customer.
Johnson allegedly placed the gun against a customer’s arm and threatened to shoot her.
Now, Johnson is currently being held at Cumberland County Prison.
PREVIOUSLY: A bank robbery suspect was taken in custody Monday following a vehicle and foot pursuit, according to police.
Police say a bank robbery was reported at PNC Bank on Enola Road in East Pennsboro Township at 3:54 p.m.
Officers spotted a vehicle a few minutes later and a chase ensued.
Police say the pursuit ended in Harrisburg when the person was taken into custody after fleeing on foot. The individual was taken to hospital for observation, police add.
The suspect vehicle had damage from trees and shrubbery. A police vehicle also had damage.
