LANCASTER, Pa.–A man remains on the run after he allegedly assaulted a man outside of a Lancaster city bar on Christmas day. So far, four men have already been arrested in connection with the attack.
During the assault, a 30-year-old man suffered brain injuries after being attacked by five men, according to police reports.
Anthony Maglietta, 43; Raymond Lee III, 39; Joshua Ellis, 32; Alexander Rodriguez-Cruz, 25, and Francisco G. Camacho, 28, are each charged with aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. Maglietta, the owner of Molly’s Pub, is also charged with obstructing administration of law and tampering with physical evidence.
Lee remains at large.
Officers responded to the 200 block of East Chestnut Street on Dec. 25 around 2:15 a.m. for a report of a disturbance. Police found the 30-year-old assault victim inside a foyer of an apartment building who appeared intoxicated and had several injuries. The man was arrested for public drunkenness and taken to the Lancaster City Police station. Officers then discovered a laceration to the back of his head and transported him to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment.
Hospital staff told police the man had two black eyes, facial lacerations, a broken nose and a brain bleed. As a result of the assault, the victim suffers from memory lapses, issues with mobility and speaking and is in need of a wheelchair to get around, police said.Investigators reviewed Lancaster Safety Coalition surveillance from the area and discovered the man had been assaulted along the 200 block N. Shippen Street, near Molly’s Pub carry-out. The video showed the victim being punched and kicked by at least three people. Authorities identified two of the suspects as Maglietta and Lee.
Detectives requested surveillance video from Maglietta and informed him that one of his employees, Raymond Lee, may have been involved in the December assault. Maglietta told police he would personally review the video and would call detectives if he found anything out of the ordinary, according to police reports. Maglietta never called, and told police when they were eventually able to reach him that his surveillance cameras were not working.
Police obtained a search warrant for Maglietta’s cameras at his home and pub. Investigators discovered his cameras did captured the assault. The video showed Maglietta, Lee and two other men assaulting the victim. Maglietta can also bee seen on his own surveillance video purposely turning a camera out of view to avoid part of the assault being captured, according to police reports.
Maglietta was arrested on Jan. 5 and taken to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $300,000 bail. He has since posted bail.
Investigators later identified Ellis, Rodriguez-Cruz and Camacho as three additional suspects in the case. Camacho is also charged with robbery, as he was seen on video removing items from the victim’s pockets after the assault. He remains in Lancaster County Prison, where he was being held on an unrelated charged and will be arraigned on these new charges at a later date.
Rodriguez-Cruz was arrested at Molly’s Pub on Jan. 6 and taken to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail. Ellis was arrested on Jan. 8 and taken to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
Police continue to search for Lee. He is also charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution.
