CHAMBERSBURG, Pa — A man wielding a knife and threatening staff at Chambersburg Hospital was shot and killed by responding police officers.
Police were called to the hospital around 8 am. The man, a patient at the hospital, reportedly turned his attention to officers when they arrived and threatened them with the knife.
According to State Police, the officers made several attempts to subdue the patient without success. The man was eventually shot and died as a result.
No one else was hurt in the incident, characterized as an “unfortunate event” in an earlier press release from the hospital.
The Franklin County DA’s office and Franklin County Coroner’s office are involved in the incident. No other details available at this time.
