SCHUYLKILL COUNTY, Pa. – A Schuylkill County man is arrested minutes after he allegedly robs a Wells Fargo Bank branch. The suspect, identified as Steven Cormier, 57, of Nesquehoning, walked into the bank at the Fairlane mall, in Norwegian Township at about 10:45 am Tuesday. Cormier approached bank employees demanding that he wanted money now and if he did not the get money things would get ugly.
A teller filled a plastic bag with money that Cormier was holding. He then ran out of the bank.
Shortly afterwards, Cormier was stopped in his vehicle by Pottsville Police. He was taken back to the bank where he was identified by three people as the man who had just robbed the bank. After obtaining a search warrant, police took the clothes he wore during the robbery, the plastic bag and the stolen money which totaled $15,923.
Following arraignment Cormier was sent to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
