Shredding event helps protect identities

Folks in Dauphin County were Spring cleaning on Saturday.
A huge document shredding event was held in the parking lot of Thomas W. Holtzman Elementary School in Susquehanna Township. People could drop off up to four boxes of documents and paperwork.
Things like old checkbook registers, bank account statements or social security paperwork, even medical records were popular items to go in the shredder.
Organizers say it helps protect your identity.
Sen. Rob Teplitz, (D) 15th District says, “They can come here, watch them being destroyed, have a good comfort level that their stuff is being destroyed and no one will ever get it and there’s no risk of that information falling into the wrong hands.”
This is the second year Sen. Teplitz and PSECU organized the free event.
Those who brought documents to be destroyed could also watch the process and see their paperwork be shredded.
The paper will be recycled.
