Springettsbury Township is looking for a new Chief of Police. Thomas Hyers resigned from the position yesterday. Hyers held the position for nearly three years.

In a press release issued by the township, Hyers is praised for being  very active in updating the policy and procedures of the Springettsbury Township Police Department to reflect professional standards, while putting special emphasis on training for the police officers.
Mark Swomley, Board of Supervisors Chairman said he “wishes Mr. Hyers well in his future endeavors and thanks him for his tremendous dedication to the Police Department and the Township over his nearly three years of service.”
“Our Police Department is better now than it was when Tom arrived and I am sure the next Chief will continue our endless journey to excellence,” said William Schenck.
Lieutenant Daniel Stump will serve as Acting Chief until a replacement is chosen.
Hyers’ annual salary was $108,150 plus benefits.
Plans for a search process and the hiring of a new Chief of Police will be determined in the next week, according to the release.
