FORT COLLINS, Colo. –  A bizarre story out of Colorado has a teenager facing a laundry list of charges.  Stefan Sortland, 18, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly stealing an ambulance from his college campus.

The Coloradoan reports that emergency crews were treating a patient and when they returned to the ambulance, it was missing.

“Our ambulance is gone,” an EMT told dispatch.

Police officers followed the ambulance’s GPS signal to where the vehicle had crashed off of U.S. 34.  The Colorado State University student was found at the scene by police wearing an EMT vest and holding a blanket and a box of Wheat Thins.

Sortland refused to listen to officers, prompting them to use a stun gun to subdue him.  He was taken to the Loveland Police Department. There he “stood on a bench, kicked the wall, and masturbated,” according to the police report.

During an interview with officers, Sortland had several unusual statements such as “friends/roommates were dead, in heaven, and had committed suicide.”  Officers checked on the people Sortland had mentioned and both were fine.

As Sortland was being taken to the jail he apologized to officers for his actions. However, a few hours later he attacked two deputies who were bringing him lunch.

According to police reports Sortland says he had been at a Halloween concert where he took “molly” and cocaine.

Sortland is facing charges including aggravated vehicle theft, obstructing EMS, reckless driving, hit-and-run, criminal mischief, attempted motor vehicle theft, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and assault.
