A trophy class whitetail deer (photo attached) was killed on the evening of September 29, along
Buck’s Valley Road, Buffalo Township, Perry County.
The large buck had a live weight of 229 pounds, and the antlers had a ‘green score’ of 157 0/8 inches. It had been shot in the neck, and was approximately 145 yards from the road.
Wildlife Conservation Officer Kevin Anderson is investigating the incident. “The senseless killing of this animal, a few days before archery season, has angered many of the local hunters.”
The deer was shot and left to rot in the field.
Anderson advises that a reward is available for anyone providing information resulting in the conviction of those responsible for this violation. Those with information should call the Southcentral Region of the Pennsylvania Game Commission at 814 643-1831.
