Correction:
Researchers at FindTheBest identified an error in their data and methodology in compiling their list of the top 25 most dangerous colleges. They issued this correction and an updated list of schools.
Note: We identified an error in the original analysis of the data used in the Feb. 3, 2015 report on dangerous colleges in the United States, which resulted in an incorrect ranking of colleges. The following is an updated report which has corrected the previous error, clarified the criteria and methodology used, and resulted in a new ranking.
We’ve reached out to the various publications that ran stories using the original data to provide them with the updated rankings.
We sincerely apologize for any confusion and inconvenience this data issue has caused. If you have any further questions or concerns, please direct them to our director of public relations, Hillary Foss, at hfoss@findthebest.com or 805-617-1863.
Pennsylvania still has three schools on the list, but they are completely different from the four previous PA schools. Swarthmore College, Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh made the updated list.

Original story:
We’ve seen several big name schools in the news for sexual assaults, abduction, and murder. Columbia, University of Virginia, and Duke all grabbed the headlines but they aren’t necessarily the most dangerous overall.
A Millersville student was just laid to rest after her murder last week, but it too did not make the list.
Researches at FindTheBest analyzed the data of crime reports at U.S. colleges to come up with a list of the top 25 most dangerous colleges. These were four-year universities with the highest rate of alleged and criminal offenses (per 1,000 students).
Data included violent and non-violent crime reported to campus security and local law enforcement in the 2012-2013 school year.
Unfortunately Pennsylvania schools were well represented on the list with York College of Pennsylvania, Widener University, Pennsylvania College of Technology, and Clarion University of Pennsylvania all making the list.
