HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Court of Judicial Discipline has ordered York County District Magistrate Jeffrey Joy, 50, be suspended without pay.

The order was issued Monday afternoon following a petition filed last week by the Judicial Conduct Board requesting that Joy be suspended with or without pay.

Joy, of New Freedom Borough, is charged with indecent assault and official oppression both misdemeanors, and a summary count of harassment, for allegedly groping a 31 year old woman who had appeared before Joy in court.

On August 7th, York County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Stephen Linebaugh, ordered Joy removed from all court duties until further notice.

The Judicial Conduct Board filed the petition requesting a suspension in response to the filing of the felony charges.

Joy faces preliminary hearings in both cases in mid September.  Joy has been justice of district court 19-3-04  since 2011.
