Coroner rules body found floating in tube at Codorus State Park suicide

The York County Coroner's Office confirmed a deceased man found floating in a tube at Codorus State Park on Monday morning had died by suicide.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Update, Sept. 5: The York County Coroner's Office announced that the 57-year-old man found deceased at Codorus State Park on Monday morning died by suicide. 

Update, 11:07 a.m.: A man was found floating on a tube in Lake Marburg this morning and determined to be deceased, prompting the coroner to respond to Codorus State Park, a park official revealed.

The body has not yet been identified, but rangers described him as a middle-aged white man.

Officials say foul play is not suspected, but the investigation into the incident is ongoing. 

Emergency responders have cleared a section of the main boat entrance for their investigation, but the park and other entrances are still open to the public.

There is no word on how long the entrance to the main boat launch will be closed.

Previously: The coroner has responded to Codorus State Park on Monday morning, officials said.

According to Ted Czech, York County Office of Emergency Management's public information officer, emergency services and the York County Coroner were sent to Codorus State Park around 7:45 a.m. on Sept. 4.

First responders were originally dispatched for a water rescue, Czech said. 

There is no word on exactly what happened or how many people may have been injured.

An investigation is ongoing.
