LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Update: 1:30 p.m.: According to Pennsylvania State Police, a Marietta man was killed in a tanker truck crash early Sunday morning.
At 6:37 a.m. PSP Lancaster Station received a report of an asphalt-carrying tanker truck on fire on the 1900 block of Furnace Hills Pike in Elizabeth Township.
According to a PSP press release, the tanker truck, driven by 31-year-old Josue Vasquez, "swerved off the road and hit a utility pole, an embankment, and a tree". After it hit the tree, the tanker truck caught fire.
Vasquez was pronounced dead on the scene by the Lancaster County Coroner's office.
Brunnerville Fire Company, and Brickerville Fire and EMS responded along with State Police.
PSP Lancaster Patrol Unit is investigating the crash.
Furnace Hills Pike is currently closed but expected to be open soon.
Previously; The coroner was called to the scene of a crash in Lancaster County Sunday morning.
Around 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning, a tanker truck overturned on the 1900 block of Furnace Hills Pike in Elizabeth Township. According to Lancaster County emergency dispatch, the vehicle caught fire.
The Lancaster County Coroner confirms that there has been one fatality in the crash.
Route 501 North at 322 is currently closed as crews remain on the scene.
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the crash.
