1 dead after crash in York County

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — A man is dead after the coroner was called to a late-night crash on Steltz Road in Shrewsbury Township, according to York County 911 Dispatch.

Pennsylvania State Police say the two-car crash occurred just after 11:50 p.m. on Feb. 5 in the 3800 block of Steltz Road.

Joshua M. Ambrose, 36, from Shrewsbury Township was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the York County Coroner's Office. 

Around 11:40 p.m., troopers were on their way to assist a disabled Subaru Legacy that was partially blocking the eastbound lane of Steltz Road near its intersection with West Seiling Road when a Land Rover crashed into the back of the Legacy, according to officials. The impact pushed both cars off the road and into trees.

PSP says the driver of the Subaru suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Land Rover, Ambrose, was pronounced dead at 1:07 a.m., according to the York County Coroner's Office.

According to the Coroner's Office, Ambrose was driving erratically and was not wearing a seatbelt. 

The coroner ruled his cause of death blunt force trauma and the manner accidental. There will be no autopsy, but a routine toxicology was obtained.

A section of Steltz Road was closed for a period of time overnight while State Police investigated the crash. It has since reopened.
