Bottled water available for residents facing Mechanicsburg water system problems

Pennsylvania American Water will be distributing bottled water to customers who have been impacted by the Cumberland County water system issues.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — Pennsylvania American Water will be distributing bottled water for customers impacted by the low pressure and/or lack of water service in the Mechanicsburg water system. Multiple distribution locations have been set up and will operate today, Aug. 10, from 12 noon through 8 p.m. 

Customers will receive one large case of bottled water or two small cases of bottled water. Customers are urged to conserve water and use it only for essential purposes. 

The boil water advisory remains in effect for the system until further notice. All updates, including information about additional bottled water distribution dates and timeframes, will be posted here.

The locations for water pickup are:

Cedar Cliff High School

1301 Carlisle Rd, Camp Hill

Adams Ricci Park 

100 E Penn Drive, Enola

New Kingstown Fire Co. 

277 N Locust Point Road, Mechanicsburg

Creekview Park 

4630 Creekview Road, Mechanicsburg

Lower Allen Township Police advise that traffic is snarled in the area due to the relief effort by Pa. American Water Company (affected customers have been contacted), the area around Cedar Cliff High School is experiencing a severe traffic backlog on Carlisle Road.  

Please avoid this area if possible to avoid the severe traffic issues, as there is no way to alleviate the backup aside from requesting that alternate routes be taken.
