CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — Southampton Township supervisors announced this week they are instituting a ban on open burning across the township until further notice, citing conditions and the lack of rain in the forecast.
The Cumberland County township's burn ban went into effect on Monday. It was instituted under the recommendation of Southampton Township Emergency Management manager Larry Hinkle, the township's supervisors said.
Under the conditions of the ban, all open burning is prohibited, according to the township.
Outdoor cooking on a grill or other covered device is still allowed, the supervisors said.
