CARLISLE, Pa. — Police in Cumberland County are warning of a suspected phone scam involving a man asking for donations to help fund a magazine for veterans.

Carlisle Police said Monday they were notified about the suspected scam. The caller, who identifies himself as Lt. Jeffrey Daniels, claims to run a magazine that goes to veterans to help them find employment. The caller asks for a donation in order to place an ad in the magazine, and reportedly becomes hostile if the recipient of the phone call refuses.

The caller also refuses to provide any further information about the magazine and calls from various phone numbers.

"(We) are putting out this information to inform business owners and citizens to be careful when receiving calls/emails requesting money," the police department said. "Ensure to verify the information and remember that no legitimate business will request you pay with business cards."

Anyone with questions can email Carlisle Police Officer DiMartile at jdimartile@carlislepa.org.
