Wanted man remains at large after being spotted in Carlisle

CARLISLE, Pa. — Police were at the scene of an active incident in Carlisle on Monday night. 

According to a the Carlisle Police Department, Jarrek Anderson, 18, a wanted person, was located in a vehicle in a parking lot in the 500 block of S. Pitt Street. around 9:45 p.m. on July 8.

Officers established a perimeter around the lot and called for backup, as Anderson was known to flee from law enforcement. Once police had ascertained Anderson was inside the vehicle and began their approach, the suspect ran on foot towards S. West Street.

Carlisle police say an extensive search was conducted using various K9 teams and the Pennsylvania State Police Aviation Unit, but Anderson was not found.

All residents were asked to stay indoors, keep their doors locked and inform police of any suspicious activity while the situation was active.

Anderson is reportedly wanted for multiple felony warrants stemming from two separate incidents. According to the Carlisle Police Department, the initial warrant was for endangering the welfare of children and simple assault, which occurred on June 26. The most recent incident occurred on July 6 and allegedly involved the unlawful possession of firearms and possession with the intent to deliver controlled substances.

Anderson remains at large. Investigators say new charges for this incident will be forthcoming, including felony counts of flight to avoid apprehension and evading arrest or detention on foot.

Officers also issued a reminder that anyone who is determined to have helped conceal Anderson's whereabouts or aid him in his flight will be charged with hindering apprehension.
