CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — A Cumberland County man is facing several charges, including drug delivery resulting in death.

According to the Carlisle Police Department, officers responded to a home along the 400 block of Arch Street when Dana Defour was found dead in her home on March 16.

Responding officers found several baggies commonly used to package heroin nearby Defour's body, according to a criminal complaint. Ring footage also showed that Barry Monismith, 33, had been to the house the evening before and was the only person to come in or out of the residence until Defour's body was found, making him the likely last person to see Defour alive.

Police searched Defour's and Monismith's phones and allegedly found a conversation in which the two discuss Defour purchasing drugs from Monismith. Officers say this was the only conversation on Defour's phone about buying drugs around the time of her death. A CashApp transaction was also made from Defour to Monismith while he was in the house.

According to a criminal complaint, Defour had been texting a family member that evening but did not respond to their or any other text messages after Monismith left her house on March 15.

Coroners who responded to the scene on March 16 estimated that Defour had been dead for approximately 24 hours by the time she was found, according to an affidavit of probable cause. A toxicology exam conducted during the autopsy allegedly revealed that she had 7.9 nanograms per milliliter of fentanyl in her blood; the coroner ruled her cause of death acute fentanyl toxicity.

Police also allegedly found additional conversations on Monismith's phone, not with Defour, where he was coordinating selling drugs to people.

Monismith was transported to Cumberland County Prison where he awaits a preliminary hearing. According to the Carlisle Police Department, he has been charged with drug delivery resulting in death, possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication facility and involuntary manslaughter.
