CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — A Cumberland County man has been sentenced up to 9 years in prison for a 2023 sexual assault.
Jordan Rhoads appeared for sentencing on Tuesday, Aug. 27 after being convicted at trial of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault and indecent assault, according to the Cumberland County District Attorney's Office.
The case stems from March of 2023 when Rhoads forced the victim to perform oral sex by forcibly grabbing the victim's head, neck and wrist without the victim's consent.
The victim appeared and spoke at sentencing about the impact Rhoad's crimes had. The victim spoke of their trauma but also that they weren't afraid of Rhoades anymore.
"Jordan Rhoads, you did not break and will not break me," the victim said in court. "Consequences are real and today you face yours."
Rhoads requested a county prison sentence of 11.5 to 23 months in the Cumberland County Prison, however, due to the seriousness of his crime, Judge Jessica E. Brewbaker imposed a sentence of 4.5 to 9 years in a state correctional institution, followed by three years of supervised probation.
Rhoads will be required to register with Megan's Law for the rest of his life, according to the Cumberland County District Attorney's Office.
