CARLISLE, Pa. — A Cumberland County Prison inmate is facing additional charges after reportedly walking off during work release.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office issued a search alert for Timberly Marie Smith, 27, who allegedly walked off on Saturday, March 9.

According to officials, Smith was given a two-hour pass to apply for a new Pennsylvania State ID at the Carlisle PennDOT Driver License Center when she did not return to the Cumberland County Prison.

She reportedly turned herself into the Perry County Probation Department in New Bloomfield and was returned to the Cumberland County Prison on March 14.

“Smith is now facing additional charges, those charges will be determined at a later date,” said Cumberland County Warden Shenk.

Smith had been incarcerated since March 1, 2024, on a Perry County Parole Violation.
