MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — A former worker at a Cumberland County personal care home is facing multiple charges after police say she assaulted a patient while administering medication in an incident last December.

Favour Worlu, 38, of Harrisburg, is accused of throwing the victim onto a bed, causing the victim to suffer hip and abdominal injuries.

The alleged incident occurred on Dec. 25 at Silver Spring Personal Care Home in Mechanicsburg, according to Silver Spring Township Police.

Worlu was suspended by her employers at the onset of the investigation, and was later fired, police said.

According to police, a quality assurance worker at the home contacted authorities when another staff member reported the incident. The staff member came forward after speaking to the victim, who was screaming in pain due to an injury to her left hip.

The victim had to be hospitalized three days for treatment of a hip muscle tear and internal bleeding, according to police.

The patient reported that Worlu woke the patient and had her sit up in bed in order to administer medication on the morning of Dec. 25, police said. When the patient told Worlu she was not ready to get up, Worlu yelled at her. The patient then told Worlu she was having difficulty maintaining her balance and felt like she was going to fall over, at which point Worlu allegedly threw her backward on the bed.

The patient said Worlu "roughed her up" and "(her) hip went out" as a result of the rough treatment.

Another worker told police that after the incident, when she told Worlu the patient was screaming in pain, Worlu allegedly replied "What do you want me to do -- I already gave her Tylenol," according to police.

The victim was reportedly traumatized by the incident and did not want to be left alone when she returned to the personal care facility, police said.

Worlu is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, neglect of a care dependent person, abuse of a care dependent person and harassment. She is awaiting a preliminary hearing, according to court documents.
