Federal and local law enforcement agents raided the office of a Cumberland County accountant accused of failing to deliver on tax preparation and other work he was contractually obligated to perform.
The raid occurred last Friday at the office of Brian L. Wade, who is being sued for breach of contract in civil court by at least one individual, records show. One source told FOX43 that as many as nine individuals and/or businesses have sued Wade for similar offenses in civil court.
Wade, his business and other individuals are named in a civil suit filed in Oct. 2022 by a Mechanicsburg woman accusing him of failing to perform monthly bookkeeping, payroll, tax, sales tax and advisory services.
Specifically, the lawsuit accuses Wade of failing to properly set up the plaintiff's LLC as an S-Corp, setting up payroll and paying quarterly federal, state and local taxes. Wade did not set up payroll correctly, resulting in unpaid state and local taxes that created late fees and penalties, the lawsuit claims.
Wade then refused to return documents belonging to the plaintiff despite repeated attempts to contact him via email, phone calls and text requests, the lawsuit claims. He has also not provided monthly reports, account reconciliation, profit and loss, any advisory services, or compensation for lack of performance, nor has he remanded any fees or penalties that resulted from his negligence, according to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit seeks damages of more than $10,000.
The law enforcement agents on Friday's raid did not share what they were looking for when they served a search warrant at Wade's Camp Hill office, located on the 3400 block of Trindle Road.
FOX43 will have more details as they become available.
