CAMP HILL, Pa. — Update, 4:45 p.m.: A Hampden Township Police spokesperson said the incident reported Wednesday afternoon was a "swatting" incident and a hoax.
"On May 29, 2024 at approximately 2:30 pm the Hampden Township Police Department responded to what was determined to be a swatting incident in the 1800 block of Red Spruce Lane in the Pinehurst development," the spokesperson said. "With the assistance of Cumberland County SRT, and neighboring jurisdictions, it was determined to be hoax, no crime was committed and no one was in need of assistance. The scene has been cleared and there is no threat to the public."

Residents in the area of Red Spruce Lane in Hampden Township, Cumberland County are being advised to shelter in place due to a police incident, the township's police department said Wednesday.
The incident was reported shortly before 4 p.m., according to Hampden Township Police.
Residents are advised to shelter in place and stay away from doors and windows until the incident is resolved, police said.
