Hillside Courts celebrate reopening with a ribbon-cutting

The Hillside Courts Project Team and West Shore School District will celebrate with a ribbon-cutting on Thursday morning.

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. — The Hillside Courts in New Cumberland received a much-needed renovation.

On Tuesday, the courts officially opened to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Representatives from the Hillside Park Project Team and West Shore School District attended the event to celebrate the make-over.

Members of the Hillside Park Project Team said the tennis and basketball courts, baseball fields and the fence surrounding the park were in dire need of repair.

Now, the park will feature a renovated tennis court, two regulation size outdoor basketball courts and four pickleball courts. There will also be a dedicated green space with trees and benches.

Project volunteers said the park will serve West Shore School District students, beautify the New Cumberland area and increase community recreation.

This project cost around $300,000 to complete.

Volunteers said this renovation project is just the first step to help beautify more parks in Cumberland County.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday at Hillside Park.

The park is located at 701 Sharon St. in New Cumberland.
