HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Friday that there will be daytime shoulder restrictions next week on the southbound Interstate 83 John Harris Memorial Bridge, which spans the Susquehanna River between Cumberland and Dauphin counties while workers perform an inspection on the structure.

Weather permitting, the work will be performed Monday through Friday of next week.

The southbound I-83 right shoulder will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily while the inspection is performed. Three travel lanes each direction and all on/off ramp lanes will remain open each of the days.

Inspectors plan to inspect the South Bridge using an inspection crane from the roadway, PennDOT said.

Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to use caution when driving through work zones for their safety, as well as for the safety of the road crews.
