Shots fired at Shippensburg University Homecoming

Evan Sipes, 22, was arrested and found to have a concealed handgun with an obliterated serial number with multiple magazines at the scene.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police made an arrest after hearing gunshots at Shippensburg University's homecoming weekend celebration. 

According to PSP, troopers and mounted units conducted enforcement and monitored festivities on Oct. 18-19. 

At 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 19, members assigned to foot patrol began hearing multiple gunshots in the distance. Members followed the sounds of gunshots and then heard additional shots fired in the area of S. Penn Street and Dykeman Road in Shippensburg Township. 

Two men with hooded sweatshirts were reportedly spotted and began to flee on foot. 

One suspect, identified as Evan Sipes, 22, was arrested and found to have a concealed handgun with an obliterated serial number with multiple magazines. Sipes allegedly resisted arrest and attempted to escape after he was in custody. He was arraigned on multiple charges stemming 

The other suspect was not caught.
