MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Update, Aug, 11, 10:10 a.m.: Pennsylvania American Water announced that their systems be will fully operational by the end of Sunday.
The company continues to highly recommend customers conserve water and use it only for essential purposes; the boil advisory will also remain in effect until further notice.
Pa. American Water will continue to provide bottled water to customers affected by this event on Sunday from noon until 8 p.m. at Adams-Ricci East Recreation in East Pennsboro Township. Customers will be given one large, or two small, cases of bottled water.
Customers who have a disability, are over the age of 60 or cannot access transportation are reminded that assistance with water delivery is available. To arrange delivery, customers are asked to call 211 until 8 p.m. and speak to a representative to confirm their location.
Previously: Pennsylvania American Water said they have located the cause of the drop in pressure in their distribution system and are initiating repairs.
Approximately 15,000 customers are still experiencing low water pressure or no water service. As repairs and system adjustments continue, many of the impacted customers will see service returns and pressures increase.
