Single-vehicle crash closes Lebanon County road for 13 hours, driver seriously injured

PALMYRA, Pa. — A 19-year-old Dauphin County man was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Lebanon County early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Dax Purcell, of Hershey, was seriously injured in the crash, which occurred around 3:21 a.m. on the 100 block of Bell Road, according to South Londonderry Township Police.

Purcell's 2001 Volkswagen Jetta left the roadway and struck a utility pole, shearing it and causing several downed wires, police said. The roadway was closed for 13 hours until the utility pole was repaired. 

Purcell was taken from the scene to an area hospital for treatment of severe injuries, police said.
