DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — Dauphin County CASA has kicked off its 2024 Giving Tree campaign.

The Linglestown Area Civic Association partnered with the Dauphin County Court Appointed Special Advocate Program (CASA) on Tuesday to light the Linglestown Square Holiday Tree, officially launching CASA's 2024 Giving Tree fundraising campaign.

Monetary donations raised will enable Dauphin County CASA to recruit, train and support community volunteers as advocates to represent the best interests of individual foster children and sibling groups in court. Funds will be collected from Dec. 3-31.

“Our CASAs serve as an extra set of eyes and ears for the judges who decide the best placement for a foster child or sibling group," said Will Foster, CASA executive director. "CASAs report to the court with recommendations of the best path forward. County judges have lauded those reports as 'bibles' that aid in their decision-making,”

Mid Penn Bank has sponsored the Giving Tree campaign since its inception in 2020. As the campaign's premier sponsor, Mid Penn's Chief Impact Officer Megan Gothel lit the tree.

“We are proud to continue our tradition of supporting CASA and its mission,” said Dawn Spahr, the director of community impact and CRA at Mid Penn Bank. “Giving back to the communities we serve is fundamental to us as a community bank, and we are truly grateful for the crucial work being done by this organization and its volunteers.”

Those interested in donating can click here. Donors can select from a pre-set list of suggested donation amounts and then choose a light or bauble to 'decorate' the virtual tree.
