Dauphin County crash into overpass leaves 1 dead

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — One person is dead after losing control of their vehicle and hitting a box culvert and overpass, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Troopers say the crash occurred near mile marker 237.7 on Route 22/322 westbound in Middle Paxton Township, Dauphin County just after 11:45 p.m. on Sept. 15.

According to PSP, a black 2007 Hyundai Sonata was driving at high speeds in the left lane when the driver lost control for an unknown reason. 

The car left the roadway and went onto the left shoulder before overcorrecting and swerving back across the highway to the grassy area on the right shoulder. The car's front passenger side tire hit a box culvert on the shoulder before the front bumper struck the concrete pier of the Fishing Creek Valley overpass.

The Dauphin County Coroner's Office pronounced Dennis Decker, 44, from Philadelphia City, dead at the scene. His cause of death has been ruled accidental.
