DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — Wawa commemorated its expansion through the area but hosting "Wawa Day in Central Pa."
The day of celebration, held on Wednesday, April 17, included a groundbreaking in Dauphin County, marking the start of construction on Wawa's newest location at the intersection of Harrisburg Pike in Meade Road in Lower Swatara Township.
The company also marked its 60th anniversary at the State Capitol.
Attendees enjoyed food and drinks while also getting an update on plans for future Wawa locations coming to York, Dauphin and Cumberland Counties.
"We're a deeply rooted Philadelphia company in the great state of Pennsylvania," said Wawa president Brian Schaller. "When we look at the opportunity and Harrisburg's growth, it's 80 miles down the road but for so long it has felt like a long 80 miles, we're breaking that today."
Company officials announced that they hope to open twelve new stores in central Pennsylvania by the end of 2025.
