HARRISBURG, Pa. — A Harrisburg School District principal is on administrative leave after a Protection From Abuse was issued against him.

Laquan Magruder, principal at John Harris Campus, was placed on administrative leave this week after the school district found out about a PFA filed against him for "activities by the principal outside of school property", Superintendent Eric Truman said in an statement to parents and staff.

Truman said the school district is independently investigating the situation.

The superintendent said that although employee matters are confidential, the school district is committed to honesty and transparency.

"Because this has become a matter of public record in our judicial system and involves one of our school leaders, we felt it important to make you aware that we acted immediately, following procedures and protocols, and in what we feel is the best interest of the school and our students."

The school district will be announcing an acting principal for the hight school in the near future.
