HARRISBURG, Pa. — The suspect in a shooting that injured three people in Harrisburg last summer has been apprehended in Philadelphia, Harrisburg Police announced Thursday.
Jerry Foster has been transported back to Dauphin County to answer to the charges against him, police said. He is accused of firing several rounds at a group of people on Cranberry Street in the city on Aug. 13.
Three people were injured, police said.
Investigators used surveillance camera footage to identify Foster as a suspect a few days after the incident, according to police.
The footage showed a dark BMW sedan turn the wrong way down Cranberry Street—which is a one-way road—from North 2nd Street. The driver, Foster, and a passenger stopped to talk to a group of people standing on Cranberry Street before continuing to drive the wrong way down the road.
Surveillance cameras then allegedly showed Foster putting his head out of the window, holding a firearm before firing several shots at the group, police said.
Police were able to extract still images of Foster's face from additional surveillance video, which they then distributed to other law enforcement departments in the area. Foster's parole officer was able to identify him as the person in the surveillance images, detectives said.
Police also allegedly confirmed that the suspect owns a BMW sedan.
Foster is prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a 2004 conviction for criminal attempt criminal homicide, according to police.
He has been charged with four counts of criminal attempted homicide, four counts of aggravated assault, one count of possession of a prohibited firearm and one count of firearms not to be carried without a license.
