DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — State leaders have released a new Pennsylvania license plate to benefit youth hunting and fishing programs.
The new Pa. sportsman license plate is available to buy starting Monday, Sept. 30. It's adorned with artwork featuring iconic Pennsylvania hunting, fishing and boating imagery including the white-tailed deer, ruffed grouse and anglers fishing from a kayak on a scenic river.
Governor Shapiro signed Act 51 of 2024 into law in July, creating the new plates and designating the funds to those youth programs.
Lawmakers say it's a small way to show support.
"This plate is a great way to publicly show your support for our next generation of conversationalists," said State Rep. Anita Kulik. "Our youth are critical to the preservation of Pennsylvania's rich history."
The plate will cost $40 plus the registration fee, of which $14 will be posited into a Youth Hunting and Fishing Restricted Account to be allocated evenly between the Pa. Game and Fish and Boat Commissions to promote youth activities under each agency.
