Pedestrian killed in Harrisburg hit-and-run, investigation ongoing

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — Update, Dec. 11: The struck pedestrian has reportedly died from his injuries. 

Jose Borrero, 34, from the City of York, died Dec. 9 at Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital, according to the Dauphin County Coroner's Office. 

Harrisburg Police have located the vehicle and driver involved in the incident and the investigation is ongoing. 

Borrero's autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. 

Previously: Dauphin County police are investigating a reported hit-and-run in Harrisburg.

According to the Harrisburg Bureau of Police, on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 8:15 p.m., officers responded to the area of South Cameron and Paxton Streets for a report of a struck pedestrian. 

At the scene, officers were told that the pedestrian, an adult man, had entered the roadway to assist with a broken-down car. 

A passing vehicle reportedly struck the man and continued without stopping. 

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and was last known to be in critical condition, according to Harrisburg Police. 

Police are investigating and anyone with information on the incident has been asked to contact the Harrisburg Police Bureau at 717-558-6900. Tips and information can also be submitted through the CRIMEWATCH website.
