HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on Wednesday announced that rolling stops on Interstate 83 near Harrisburg will resume next week due to blasting related to construction work.

Weather permitting, contractors will perform blasting work near I-83 in the area of Cameron Street on Monday, Nov. 25 and Tuesday, Nov. 26, PennDOT said. The work will be performed between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The work is weather-dependent and will be done on an as-needed basis into the month of December along the northbound I-83 corridor beginning at Cameron Street and progressing north to 17th Street, PennDOT said.

There are already long-term construction signs along I-83 north from the John Harris Memorial Bridge to the Eisenhower Interchange, according to PennDOT.

The work is part of the larger Capitol Beltway Project, which includes widening and reconstructing portions of the interstate, construction of overhead bridges at 29th Street and 19th Street, a new Cameron Street Interchange, the removal of the 13th Street Interchange and roadway improvements along the Cameron, 19th and 29th Street corridors, according to PennDOT.

Work on the $154.6 million project is expected to be finished by Oct. 12, 2027.
