HARRISBURG, Pa. — Portions of Interstate 83 in the Harrisburg area will have lane closures in place through the rest of the week while workers conduct bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.
On Wednesday and Thursday, workers will inspect the Paxton Street Bridge, which spans I-83 in Swatara Township. The work will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting, PennDOT said.
There will be alternating right and left lane closures on northbound I-83 on Wednesday, and on southbound I-83 on Thursday, according to PennDOT.
On Thursday and Friday, a similar inspection will be conducted on the Elmerton Avenue Bridge, which spans I-83 in Lower Paxton Township, PennDOT said.
Weather permitting, the work will be performed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both days. There will be alternating right and left lane closures on northbound I-83 on Thursday, and southbound I-83 on Friday.
Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to use caution when driving through work zones for their safety, as well as for the safety of the road crews.
