Water restrictions across parts of Dauphin County lifted

The Sixth Street Water Treatment Plant is now functioning normally and water supply reserves have reportedly stabilized to normal levels.

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — Update, Aug. 14: The emergency water conservation notice has been lifted for Veolia Water customers in Linglestown, Paxtonia, Colonial Park, Penbrook Borough and northern Swatara Township.

The Sixth Street Water Treatment Plant is now functioning normally and water supply reserves have stabilized to normal levels.

Customers who may have lingering discoloration in their water are advised to run cold water taps until it becomes clear.

Previously: Residents in parts of Dauphin County have been urged to immediately restrict their water usage as much as possible.

According to Veolia Water, recent heavy rains stirred up sediment that has clogged their Sixth Street Water Treatment Plant.

The water restriction will preserve stored supplies of water until the issue can be fixed.

Affected customers in Linglestown, Paxtonia, Colonial Park, Penbrook Borough and northern Swatara Township must immediately halt all non-essential use of water to conserve supplies while Veolia Water works to bring the plant back.

Customers should not water their lawns, fill pools, wash cars, or perform other non-essential tasks until further notice.

According to a spokesperson with Veolia Water, there is no estimated time for the plant to be fixed. Water restrictions will remain in place until then.
