State Police: Fatal crash in Dauphin County leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

According to State Police, the crash occurred in the area of River Road near Red Hill Road Plaza in Londonderry Township.

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — State Police in Dauphin County are investigating a crash that caused one injury and one death Friday night.

According to police, at just past 11:30 p.m., a Honda Civic was traveling southbound on River Road at a high rate of speed in the area of Red Hill Road Plaza in Londonderry Township.

The vehicle then struck the right-side steel barrier, causing it to travel off of the left side of the roadway and up an embankment.

Police stated that following the initial impact, the Honda Civic rolled an unknown number of times before coming to final rest on the vehicle's roof facing north in the northbound lane. 

The driver, Gideon Derr, 34, of Labelle, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger was transported by EMS for suspected minor injuries.
