STEELTON, Pa. — Update: Mayor Ciera Dent shared additional comments and information regarding her decision via a Facebook post on Saturday.
She wrote, "The lodge can be considered a staple for the historical value to the community and a nuisance property due to recent events. I’m not questioning what the Lodge has been to the community."
Mayor Dent said it's her responsibility to consider every situation and make the best decision for everyone's safety.

Previous: Steelton Borough Mayor Ciera Dent declared a state of emergency on Friday following a shots fired incident.
On Feb. 23 around 4:30 p.m., officers from the Steelton Borough Police Department were called to a shots fired incident in the 100 block of Frank S. Brown Boulevard, in the area of the Cyrene Elks Lodge.
Officials said no one was injured, but the incident is still under investigation.
A few hours after this incident, Mayor Dent proclaimed the Cyrene Lodge to be a "nuisance property, a public safety hazard, and a place servicing unlawful and tumultuous assemblies..."
In the proclamation, the mayor demands "all activities and events within the Cyrene Lodge to cease and desist immediately."
