HUMMELSTOWN, Pa. — A new Wawa food market and gas station has been proposed in Dauphin County.
The store could take over a plot of land on the 9000 block of Bridge Road in Hummelstown, formerly occupied by a Hoss's Steak & Sea House.
According to land development plans released Tuesday by Swatara Township officials, Wawa intends to build a new store on the 1.61-acre plot of land. The new store would be more than 5,500 square feet in size, with 56 parking spaces, eight gasoline fueling stations, and eight electric charging stations, the plan states.
This week's development is the latest in a series of expansions into Central Pennsylvania proposed by Wawa. Earlier this month, the convenience store company shared plans to open a new location on Cocoa Avenue in Hershey.
The plan, submitted to Derry Township officials, said the new store would also be more than 5,500 square feet in size, with 16 fueling stations and 44 parking spaces.
A York County real estate company also announced plans for a proposed Wawa location along West Market Street and Route 30 in York.
In 2022, Wawa announced its plans to open approximately 40 new locations in Central Pa. by 2027.
The plans do not include a timeline estimating when construction will begin at either of the proposed Dauphin County locations. Officials from Derry and Swatara townships have also not indicated when or if the proposals will be approved.
