YORK COUNTY, Pa. — State Police have released additional details about a deadly crash involving a motorcycle that occurred on Interstate 83 in York County on Sunday.
The operator of the motorcycle, 21-year-old Issaiha Seiders of Halifax, Dauphin County, was pronounced dead at the scene of the two-vehicle crash, which occurred at about 11:23 a.m. at Mile Marker 35.5 of I-83 in Fairview Township.
A passenger on the motorcycle, whose identity has not been released by authorities, was transported via helicopter to Hershey Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
A preliminary investigation of the crash determined Seiders and his passenger were traveling north on the interstate behind a Ford Fusion when he attempted to pass the vehicle in the center lane.
As the motorcycle began to pass, the operator of the Fusion merged into the center lane, striking the motorcycle and causing it to slide off the highway onto the right shoulder of the road.
The operator of the Fusion was not injured, police said.
The crash remains under investigation, according to police. Additional information will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.
