PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Broken and non-operational electric vehicle chargers in York and Willow Grove will soon be replaced with new, reliable chargers along with additional funding available for replacements and upgrades across the Commonwealth.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced a funding program for the issue affecting electric vehicles on Thursday, Oct. 24. Round 1A of the Electric Vehicles Charger Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator (EVC-RAA) program is an opportunity for eligible parties to pursue funds for the replacement or repair of listed non-operational chargers.
In round one of funding, PennDOT selected $300,000 in proposals from Electrify America and Leg Up Farmers Market. Electrify America will replace legacy chargers with the latest Gen 4 chargers at the Willow Grove Mall in Willow Grove.
Leg Up Farmers Market will replace existing chargers with new Level 2 units to achieve reliable uptime, or the amount of time a charger is available for use, at its grocery store location in York.
The program was created through a federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) to focus on the charging reliability infrastructure across the state. The investment is part of Gov. Shapiro's Administration's work to ensure Pa. transportation is on track to be cleaner, safer, more affordable and reliable.
Eligible parties are able to apply for funds from Nov. 11- Jan. 10, 2025, as long as they are included in the list of eligible AFDC Station IDs and does not currently meet all Federal Rule requirements.
