30 people displaced from Motel 6 after fire

According to Cumberland County Dispatch, the fire is at a Motel 6 along the 300 block of Cumberland Parkway in Mechanicsburg.

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Update, Feb. 5: Fire officials say 30 people were displaced after Friday night's fire at Motel 6.

The fire began at a mobile home attached to the motel office, then quickly spread to the motel itself due to high wind.

Fire officials say the low temperatures and winds caused water spray to freeze and coated firefighters in ice.

In spite of the dangerous conditions of the night, no injuries were reported.

Mechanicsburg School District sent two buses to the scene to keep motel residents and firefighters warm.

Officials say the whole building is now uninhabitable.

The state fire marshal has declared the cause of the fire to be undetermined.

The American Red Cross is assisting those who were displaced.
