LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — UPDATE: (September 6): State police say an 18-year-old man is missing after swimming with his friends Saturday evening in Muddy Creek Boat Access in Lower Chanceford Township.
Officials say upon arriving on the scene, it was determined that the man was swimming in the Susquehanna River with his two friends just south of the Norman Wood Bridge when he was swept downstream.
The rescue operation was hampered by dangerous conditions and suspended at 9:30 p.m., police said.
Rescue operations resumed Sunday morning, according to police.
