Three injured after reported explosion at Johnson Controls

Three people were transported to the hospital after suffering injuries during a reported explosion at Johnson Controls in Waynesboro.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. — Three people were injured after a reported explosion at Johnson Controls Inc. in Waynesboro on Tuesday morning.

Fire crews and police responded to the manufacturer in the 100 block of Cumberland Valley Ave. in Waynesboro sometime before 9:00 a.m. on June 11 for a reported explosion.

According to the Franklin County Emergency Management Agency, three people were injured, and two of them were airlifted to the hospital.

The extent of their injuries is unclear at this time, but one of the injured was taken to Bayview Burn Center.

There is no known cause of the explosion yet, and it is still under investigation.

Johnson Controls Inc. released the following statement:

The safety and well-being of our employees is our top priority, and we are actively assessing the situation and working with local response teams. We will provide more information as appropriate as we learn more.
