Susquehanna National Heritage Area hosts fall season boat tours through October

SNHA welcomes guests to take part in its River Discovery Boat Tours throughout the fall season.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — There is so much history here in Central Pennsylvania both on land and in the water. And the Susquehanna National Heritage Area wants to make sure you get a taste of both through their River Discovery Boat Tours.

On weekends in September and October, guests are welcomed aboard the Chief Uncas, a historic 112-year-old vessel, for guided boat tours on the Lake Clarke reach of the Susquehanna River.

During the fall season, passengers will get to view the fall foliage and local wildlife as well as learn about the region’s history and heritage. The Chief Uncas is holding special theme tours as well as sunset cruises.

This includes the “Native Peoples’ of the Susquehanna Tour” where passengers will learn about the Native American people who lived along the Susquehanna River in York and Lancaster County and those who live there today.

Throughout October, they’ll be hosting a “Haunted Heritage Tour” where the Chief Uncas is decorated for the spooky season. On the one-hour tour, guests will learn stories of the Susquehanna’s strange happenings and creature sightings. Guests are encouraged to join in on the spooky fun in costume!

The Chief Uncas departs from SNHA’s Zimmerman Center for Heritage, located at 1706 Long Level Rd. in Wrightsville. Tours are offered Friday – Sunday.
