Fire in Lebanon County leaves one hospitalized

Crews worked quickly to extinguish the house fire but not before an elderly woman was injured.

MYERSTOWN, Pa. — A fire broke out at a house in Lebanon County, leaving one hospitalized and causing at least $200,000 worth of damages

Crews were called to 526 South Cherry Street in Myerstown Borough for a residential fire at 9:50 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30. 

A 73-year-old woman was home at the time and managed to escape the building but suffered injuries from the fire. She was transported to Hershey Medical Center for smoke inhalation. Her current condition is unknown at this time. 

Myerstown and other local fire crews made quick work of extinguishing the fire after they arrived on the scene. 

According to a Pennsylvania State Police release, the woman, a man, and three cats were displaced by the fire, which caused at least $200,000 worth of damages. 

Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
