CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The Chambersburg Police Department on Monday announced the departure of Chief Ron Camacho, who is leaving to take over as Chief of Police at the North Charleston Police Department in South Carolina.
Camacho served eight years in Chambersburg, the department said.
"He has worked hard over these eight years building and promoting a police department that is one of the finest in south-central PA," the police department said. "Chief Camacho competed with other individuals from across the country and was selected from some of the finest candidates."
Camacho was offered the job by North Charleston's mayor on Sunday.
"Please wish Chief Camacho all the best as he begins his move to the North Charleston Police Department," Chambersburg Police said. "We wish him the best although we hate to see him leave."
