FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. — Fire and emergency crews in Franklin County are battling two large fires.
According to the Franklin Fire Company, area agencies are working on a three-acre fire on Warm Spring Road at Woodbourne Estates.
Additionally, crews are working on a 10-acre mountain fire on Corls and Golf Course Roads. The fire reportedly has dozens of units working on it including the Piney Mountain Strike team and helicopters with the Department of Forestry.
A lack of rain in Pennsylvania this fall is contributing to an increased risk of fire spreading out of control. Many municipalities across the Commonwealth are enacting burn bans due to extended dry conditions and windy weather that poses a wildfire risk. In many places, violators can be fined.
At this time, Southampton Township and Shippensburg Borough are under burn bans in Franklin County.
